The Mayor works full-time, managing the day-to-day operations of the City and providing leadership and policy direction to the City Council. The Mayor chairs all meetings of the City Council,
voting only in the case of a tie. The six members of the City Council work part-time, holding budget and policy-setting authority for the city. The Mayor and City Council members are elected
at large by popular vote. City Council members are elected to a specific Council seat, but the seats are not determined geographically. City elections are held in odd number years (e.g. 2007, 2009, 2011).

Hillside Park is a community park located in north Boise. The park is 15 acres featuring one lighted softball diamond, two little league fields and an equestrian area.
Through a leasing agreement Hillside Jr. High School was able to work with Boise City in order to build this area. In agreement for the school to use the track and softball fields in conjunction with the public a contract was signed. After several difficult set backs Hillside Park was completed in 1976.
This facility is available at a first-come, first-serve basis. Hours are from sunrise to sunset.

league organizations and may be available on a drop-in basis
(first-come, first-serve) during little league season. League
practice is not able to be scheduled.

Restrooms are now closed and park drinking fountains are turned off for the winter.

Smoking and vaping are prohibited in all public parks, including within 20 feet of the Boise Greenbelt, except in designated areas within Ann Morrison and Julia Davis parks and city-owned golf courses.
