Greenbelt Construction Projects

The Boise Parks and Recreation Department will be completing a number of construction projects along the Boise River Greenbelt and adjacent river bank over the coming months. This repair work is being completed following the historic flooding that damaged or eroded a number of sections in 2017.

Due to a Disaster Declaration made by the federal government, the City of Boise was eligible to apply for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) funds to cover the cost of most of these repairs. Parks and Recreation team members have worked with FEMA officials to successfully file the necessary paperwork, and the City of Boise will be reimbursed for 90 percent of project costs to repair 19 sections of river bank and Greenbelt damaged due to flooding. These repairs are necessary to protect the integrity of the pathways and adjacent river bank in the future.

The following projects will include a Greenbelt closure:

  • Bank Repair- Plantation Island
  • Bank Repair- N Lakeharbor Ln
  • Bank Repair- Wylie Ln
  • Greenbelt Repair- Willow Ln
  • J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation Boise River Whitewater Park Phase II Construction (Estimated date of completion June 2019)

The first river bank repair project is scheduled to start in mid-December. It is located near Boise State University. The bulk of the river bank and Greenbelt repairs will be happening in January and February, when river flows are low.

Our team is working to identify safe detours and alternative routes for all Greenbelt and river bank construction projects that will include a path closure.

The status of each repair project will be updated throughout the construction process on the interactive map on this page.

In addition, community members can follow our Boise River Greenbelt Facebook page for project updates or view a PDF version of the construction map.
