Spring 2018 Greenbelt Construction and Closure Updates

As the weather warms up, more people are heading outside to enjoy the beautiful Boise River Greenbelt.

Before you plan your ride or walk with your family, it’s important to know there are several construction projects along the way.

The Boise Parks and Recreation team understands that these closures and detours can be an inconvenience, but we appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to improve the Greenbelt experience for all users.

An updated list of Greenbelt closures and construction projects will be updated here:

April 9, 2018 GREENBELT PATH CLOSED AT ESTHER SIMPLOT PARK

The Greenbelt path between 36th Street pedestrian bridge and Main Street is closed for asphalt removal and replacement with concrete. Detours for Greenbelt users will be signed. Project is estimated to be completed by the end of May.

November 6, 2017 BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION UNDER WAY AT MARIANNE WILLIAMS PARK

Construction work has started on a bridge that will connect Warm Springs Avenue to Marianne Williams Park on the south side of Harris Ranch. Because this project intersects with the Greenbelt, a section of the path will be closed throughout construction, which is expected to be completed Summer 2018. Please proceed with caution in the area and use all signed detours.

May 7, 2018 NEW OUTDOOR CLASSROOM CONSTRUCTION AT IDAHO ANNE FRANK HUMAN RIGHTS MEMORIAL

Construction will begin Monday, May 7 on the Idaho Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial Classroom along the Greenbelt. During Phase I, the 8th Street footbridge will be closed. However, the east/west travel under the bridge on the north side of the river will remain open. Detour signs will be placed at Boise State footbridge and the Ann Morrison footbridge. Phase I is estimated to last 2 weeks. During Phase II, the 8th street footbridge will be reopened. Construction is estimated to last a total of 4 months.

April 25, 2018 CONCRETE REPAIR NEAR KRISTIN ARMSTRONG MUNICIPAL PARK

A concrete repair will take place starting at 7:30 am on May 1, at the south end of Walnut St., near Greenbelt.

There will be path closed ahead signs placed at the Y in Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park and at Ferguson Street. The concrete area will be fenced off for approximately two days to allow time for the concrete to set.
