Donations needed for kids' shopping trip

The holidays are right around the corner and your help could brighten a child’s day!

Donations are needed to help support an annual holiday shopping program for underserved youth in our community.

Boise Parks and Recreation will host the annual Kids’ Holiday Shopping Spree on Dec. 21 at the Target, 6280 N. Eagle Road.

Youth are chosen from after-school programs at a homeless day shelter and Title 1 schools that demonstrate significant need for this program. Sites include the Grace Jordan, Morley Nelson, Whitney, Garfield, Jefferson, Hawthorne and Taft school-based community centers and the Pioneer Day Shelter in which are all operated by the Boise Parks and Recreation Department.

Each participant receives a gift card to purchase gifts or personal items. About 150 participants are expected to participate this year.

Online donations are accepted at http://bit.ly/2hsU2bo. For additional information, please contact Parks Administration Office, 1104 Royal Blvd., (208) 608-7600 or Fort Boise Community Center, 700 Robbins Road, (208) 608-7680.  All donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes.
