Stack Rock Reserve

stackrock.jpgIn 2010, Boise City purchase 1,320 acres near Bogus Basin ski area for $1.32 million.  $1 million came from Fred Alleman, a Boise citizen and avid Ridge to Rivers Trail user.  The property is located about 9 miles from downtown Boise west of Bogus Basin Road in a forested area with steep slopes and old logging roads.  It primarily lies in Boise County and includes the prominent Stack Rock geologic formation.  The reserve is a desirable destination for multiple recreational uses, including hiking, mountain biking and rock climbing.  Freddy's Stack Rock Trail is a new loop trail that meanders through the reserve.  It links up with the current Ridge to Rivers trail system in the Shafer Butte area.stackrock2.jpg
