Comba Site (Partially Developed)
2995 N Five Mile Rd
A community garden, two shelters and a parking lot were
completed in July 2012 at the Comba Park site.
The summer project included site preparation and excavation in
addition to installation of an irrigation system, soil amenities
and the paved parking lot. Nearby residents planted gardens with
assistance from the Boise Urban Garden School (BUGS).
A Boy Scout built the shade structures and two picnic
benches.
The $74,000 construction project was funded, in part, with a
$59,700 Neighborhood Reinvestment Grant awarded by the Mayor and
City Council to the West Valley Neighborhood Association.
A grant from the Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation for Health
helped provide technical assistance from BUGS.
The park site was donated to the City of Boise in 2000 by the
Comba family. A master plan developed in 2004 was reviewed with
neighbors in summer 2012.
Park Update
Green-up of the park continues, and once it is determined what
to do with the wastewater from the spray park the Department will
continue with permitting and design. In the interim, the
playground and extended parking lot will bid and construction will
occur in summer 2013. The garden will need to be relocated as
soon as weather permits.
A Master Plan is a concept drawing illustrating
recreation facilities and landscape features planned for a park
site. It does not necessarily represent what amenities are
currently in a park.
