New playground opens at Comba Park
Get ready to play! West Boise kids have a unique new playground to enjoy at Comba Park, 2995 W. Five Mile.
The colorful, non-traditional play equipment is suitable for spinning, bouncing and climbing. Designed for ages 2-12, the playground features a spinning net climber and 9-foot climbing boxes. The $117,000 project was funded by the City of Boise.
Sustainable features include artificial “turf” material under the play equipment, large mulch areas, Trex composite-wood benches and trash can holders, and a water-efficient irrigation system.
Construction will begin this winter on the final phase of park development. Improvements include a splash pad with fountains, a “dumping” bucket and a 36-inch orb as well as a restroom, shelter, renovated barn, and a new community garden. Funding is provided by private donations.
The completed park is expected to be open in early summer 2014.
Comba Park is a 3.2-acre site located near the intersection of Ustick and Five Mile. The property was donated to the City of Boise in 2000 by the Comba family. The neighborhood park was identified as a high priority for the West Bench in the 2011 Boise Parks & Recreation Comprehensive Plan.
