Boise Community Forestry has mulch and wood available for sale in varying quantities throughout the year. These products are one of our efforts to recycle wood from the pruning and removal of trees in Boise's city forest.
Mulch and firewood is available at the Community Forestry office, located at 4969 W. Dorman St. in Boise. The office is on the corner of S. Orchard St. and W. Dorman St., about one mile south of the intersection of interstate 84 and Orchard St. Turn east off Orchard onto Dorman St. and then take an immediate right into the Community Forestry parking lot.
For mulch: Our mulch is considered a medium grade mulch. Any trees or limbs that we have to remove from our parks or along the public right-of-way, which is 10" or smaller, is run through a chipper. We let that sit for about six months to a year. Then we put it through a tub-grinder. At that point, the mulch is ready for sale. We do not accept any outside yard debris. The mulch is only the wood, bark and leaves from the limbs and trees that we have to remove.
Mulch is $15.00 a cubic yard. Our staff can load the mulch for you into an open bed pick or trailer. You can also buy the mulch for $3.00 a bag (lawn size bags). If buying by the bag, you will need to bring your own bags and shovel and load the mulch yourself. Call 208-608-7700 in advance to arrange pick up. Our office is not always open due to staff working off site.
For firewood: We do not offer delivery, bring your own truck or trailer. All wood must be taken as is, we do not allow cutting on the premises. Firewood can be purchased for $80.00 per cord or $0.63 per cubic foot. Call 208-608-7700 in advance to arrange pick up. Our office is not always open due to staff working off site.
Check, cash and credit cards are accepted. Please bring a tarp to cover your load, as required by Ada County Highway District.
