Art

Young Adults (ages 12-17) will receive individual instruction in classes numbering 6-12 students.  Students can explore their creative talents in classes such as: Photography, Pottery, Drawing Watercolor, Sculpture and more.

Drop-In Activities

Neighborhood Open Gyms

Supervised open gym play is available for students in grades K-12.  Drop-by and be active with friends and family during the cold winter months. Select gyms are available on weekends from November to March (except for Holiday Break). Now completed for 2016/2017.

Open Gym is a service free of charge, provided by a partnership between the Boise Independent School District and Boise Parks & Recreation.  For more information, call (208) 608-7654.

Fort Boise Teen Activity Center

Young people have a place to call their own at Fort Boise Community Center! Our 1,500-square-foot Teen Activity Center includes a game room with pool, table tennis, air hockey, foosball, console-based gaming, or listening to music. A social area is designated as a comfortable place for teens to meet and hang out with their friends. The computer lab features equipment set aside for PC gaming for teens.

Weight Room

Our supervised weight room is equipped with free weights and weight machines, exercise bikes, steppers, treadmills and more. Let us know if you need help getting started on a program that is right for you.

Late Night Fridays

Hang out with your friends and have a blast at Late Night Fridays every week at the Fort Boise Community Center. You can work out, hang out, play games, and learn how to make clay pots - whatever works for you! Play basketball or volleyball, use the Teen Activity Center computer lab, weight room, art classroom, X-Box, PC gaming or just relax with your friends.

Camps

Boise Parks & Recreation offer a variety of camps for teens, ages 12-18.

Martial Arts

Learn the principles and techniques of Shotokan Karate. Classes focus on the development of self-defense, self discipline and physical fitness. Open to beginning level students. Sessions are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

Tennis

Beginners: Learn the basics of tennis; grip, stroke techniques, serving, and movement. Classes are arranged by age group.

Advanced-Intermediate Ages 8-16: For students who lack consistency in a rally but can coordinate footwork when contacting the ball on the forehand and backhand. Students can keep score, serve (but frequently double fault), and understand the basic rules. There will be some emphasis on game playing.

All participants may enter any of the end-of-session tournaments, called Treasury Valley Junior Circuits. By playing in one of the TVJC's, your child will qualify to play in the Idaho Grand Prix. Swimming

Swim classes are available at all six pools. Eight 25-minute classes are offered Mondays-Thursdays in two-week sessions. Classes are taught by certified instructors.

Borah, Fairmont, Ivywild, and the Natatorium Pools are wheelchair accessible.

Adaptive Recreation

Boise Parks & Recreation's Adaptive Recreation program provides a wide range of recreational, social and educational programs for youth and adults with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities can choose to participate with one of our adaptive recreation programs which are specifically designed for someone with a disability or utilize inclusion services in which accommodations may be provided so that an individual with a disability can fully participate in any of Boise Parks & Recreation's programs.
