Adult Classes

Art

The Art Center provides tons of fun for kids with our extensive offering of youth art classes. Want to get your young person started in art? Enroll them in our many preschool classes such as: ABC's of Shape, Busy Bakers, Art Smart, Holiday Story Factory and much more.

For the older children (ages 9-12 years) the Art Center provides many different opportunities to explore art with classes like: Art & Animals, Clay, Pottery for Kids, Drawing & Painting, Sculpture, Mask Making, Art Sampler and much more.

Parent/Child Art

Mom, Dad, or Grandparents, bring your budding young artist to the Art Center for fun filled classes full of many different art activities. Children can start as young as 2 1/2 years of age by enrolling in our many popular Parent/Child classes such as: Art Start, Fun Factory, Holiday Fun Crafts, Stories That Come Alive, Clay Mates and much more. Students will create one-of-a-kind art projects that will be cherished for years to come.

Dance

Dance is not only an art form- it is a great way to build self-esteem, self-confidence, and to develop good physical coordination.  Boise Parks & Recreation offers a variety of classes including tap, ballroom, line dance and country swing, to name a few.

Martial Arts

Learn the principles and techniques of Shotokan Karate. Classes focus on the development of self-defense, self discipline and physical fitness. Open to beginning level students. Sessions are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the year.

Strength Training

A combination class for adults of all ages. A full body workout using machines and other resistance equipment, featuring individual instruction on proper form and technique. Participants will make gains in muscular strength and flexibility.

Fitness

Boise Parks & Recreation offer a variety of fitness orientated classes for adults; some outdoors and others are indoors. Core conditioning, pilates, yoga, tai chi, sunset/moonrise hikes, and kettlebell are a few of our offerings.

Tennis

Adult Lessons - USTA Tennis - Ages 16 & Up

Classes are designed for beginning to advanced-intermediate level tennis players and are limited to eight to ten students per instructor. Classes are offered in four, three-week sessions and are held at the Fort Boise Park tennis courts.

Beginner: Introduction to the basics of tennis. Learn proper grip, stroke techniques, serving, and movement.

Advanced Beginner: Instruction designed for tennis fundamentals and to improve the level of your play.

Intermediate: This class will prepare students for entry level tournament play. Some emphasis on competitive play.

Advanced Intermediate: A focus on competitive tennis. This class is structured for tennis players seeking higher level play.

Drill Group: This class will improve your game through the use of fast paced competitive drills and play.

Swimming

Swim classes are available at all six pools. Eight 25-minute classes are offered Mondays-Thursdays in two-week sessions. Classes are taught by certified instructors.

Adult lap swim is available at Borah, Fairmont, Lowell, Natatorium and Ivywild pools. 

Borah, Fairmont, Ivywild, and the Natatorium Pools are wheelchair accessible.

Drop-In Basketball (18yrs+)

The Fort Boise Community Center gymnasium is open for weekday basketball games. All skill levels welcome. Indoor court, locker room and showers provided. No registration necessary.

$4.00 per visit.  Monday-Friday 12-2 pm at Fort Boise Community Center.

Adaptive Recreation

Boise Parks & Recreation's Adaptive Recreation program provides a wide range of recreational, social and educational programs for youth and adults with disabilities. Individuals with disabilities can choose to participate with one of our adaptive recreation programs which are specifically designed for someone with a disability or utilize inclusion services in which accommodations may be provided so that an individual with a disability can fully participate in any of Boise Parks & Recreation's programs.
